Individuals impacted by ADHD constantly face adversity in managing their day to day lives, particularly getting
and staying organized. Those individuals who are resilient find a way to bounce back and achieve success.
Over the past two decades, psychologists have identified many of the protective factors that contribute to resilience
and have found that resilience can be developed. In this session, we will trace the evolution of understanding
about resilience and how it applies to individuals with ADHD. Results of the presenter’s and others’ recent
research on which attributes contribute most to resilience will also be offered. Finally, participants will have the
opportunity to learn some of the strategies that have been shown to build resilience.
