This class will describe the challenges that parents encounter raising teenagers with ADHD and how the author uses family interventions to assist families cope with these challenges. Such challenges include reluctance to take medication, poor school performance, defiant behavior, and negative attitudes. Family interventions include psycho-education, one-on-one time, behavioral contracting, response cost, problem-solving, communication training, cognitive restructuring, and functional/ structural strategies. Case examples will illustrate these interventions.
