This class will describe the challenges faced by people with symptoms of, or a diagnosis of, Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am a clinical psychologist and the mother of an adult son diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome who served as consultant in the development of the material for this class. We will discuss how 3 or 4 common diagnostic criteria for ASD impact people’s lives, with specific focus on their ability to effectively organize their time and possessions, as well as to form coherent and realistic plans. My son/consultant offers his perspective as well as some suggestions as to strategies he has found helpful.
