Impairment in decision-making capacity can be temporary due to, for example, lack of sleep, medications, grief, or depression or permanent, due to stroke, dementia, TBI, or other conditions. Assisting clients with organizing requires their decision-making, and our chronically disorganized clients have a difficult time with this. Often this difficulty with making decisions is what contributes to the disorganization. We want to assist our clients in making the best decisions that they can.
