Research and experience tells us that the current community responses of forced cleanouts are not effective or sustainable; as well, forced cleanouts often leave the homeowner feeling re-traumatized, angry, hurt, and with a need to immediately re-fill the home. A different response is required – issues of public safety must be addressed as well as making sure the mental health needs of the homeowner are met. This workshop will present a different response – that of bringing a home to safety while also tending to the mental and physical health needs of the client.
